This is a day late, but we just celebrated Father’s Day and it was a great one! Father’s don’t get enough recognition, but they deserve it as well. My father isn’t a man of many words, but we know he loves us by his actions. Let me tell you a little about my dad.
My dad moved to the US when he was 21 years old. He was dating my mom at the time, but the opportunity arose to come to the US for a chance at a better life. He packed up and left everything he knew and flew here from the Philippines with his mother and 2 younger sisters. Since then, my dad had to go straight to work to be the “breadwinner” for his mother and sisters. His parents were divorced and didn’t have much contact with his own father before he left, so he ended up being the head of the household at 21 years of age. My dad had many dreams. He wanted to go to school and join the military, but couldn’t do it because he had to make a living and support his mom and sisters. 5 years later, my mom and I (I was 3 at the time) arrived in the US. Since then, it has been a struggle for both parents trying to make a living, but they made it work. Continue reading
I’m getting married in November and the planning process is in full effect! My fiancé, Raf, proposed to on October 8, 2016 and as soon as he did, we started planning asap. I always mentioned that a year long engagement was perfect and I’ve always wanted a fall wedding. We knew we couldn’t do our wedding in October because it was such a busy month for us to begin with (birthdays, parties, etc), and we knew we didn’t want a winter wedding, so November was the best month for us.
The very first thing we did after we got engaged was hire a wedding planner. This was a must as we would learn along the way, because planning a wedding isn’t easy. I’ve been to so many weddings and almost every bride suggested to invest in a wedding planner, so we did and it has been probably the best investment we’ve made so far for the wedding. Welcome to another blog. I’m sure this is just one of many blogs in the interweb, but thanks for stopping by. Since you’re here, just thought I’d formally introduce myself.
My name is Faye and I’ve lived in the Bay Area my whole life. I’ve been exposed to the huuuuge melting pot that is the Bay Area and I am so grateful to have grown up in such a diverse community. I am the eldest of 3. I have a younger brother and sister. I also have a crazy, spoiled pup named, Rocky.
Why blog? I understand that blogging is such an impacted area in the internet world, but I’ve always loved to write. I’ve had my share of Xanga, Blogger, and Tumblr in the past and I loved it. I was religiously posting content several days a week in middle/high school on those blogs, but then life happened and I stopped. The last blog I had was going into my early college years, but I couldn’t keep up. Fast forward to today, my sister told me about starting a blog again and mentioned that she has been posting some of her own stuff on her newly made blog as well. I was hesitant for a bit, but I was like, “Oh, what the heck. Why not?” Recently, I found my most recent blog. I read through it, it made me smile and it took be back to those days and each particular blog I wrote. I got inspired again. I thought to myself, it’s been so long since I’ve blogged, but the advantage to that is the years of growth and experience I’ve been through so far, which would make for great topics to blog about.
