The Lights Festival

This past weekend, the husband and I, along with a bunch of our close friends attended The Lights Festival in Willows, CA. It was a first for all of us. The event begins in the late afternoon (around 2pm) and goes into the evening. It’s basically a huge social gathering with food, music and dancing. It’s a family event and kid friendly, which is a plus. Each ticket receives a lantern and marker to decorate with. Everyone’s lantern was unique. Some drew on it, personalized it with their goals and dreams, a prayer or a ‘hello’ to a family member who passed. As soon as it got dark, the event hosts showed us a video and demo, which got everyone hyped up and once we got the green light, we lit our lanterns and released them into the sky in unison. It was the most beautiful sight I’ve ever seen and experienced. I’ve never had a breathtaking moment, until this. It was emotional, sentimental, and meaningful. Being surrounded by your loved ones made it that much more special.

Raf and I just posted the vlog for this day and it is now our favorite vlog to date. We’re pretty proud of this one. Check it out in the link below!

Our Wedding Video

Yes, you read that right. Our official wedding video is finally here! The husband and I watched it together and it brought us back. Of course, I cried. It made us miss our wedding day so much more than we already do. Our video was shot and edited by the talents of DP Weddings and we could not be anymore happier with the outcome! To be completely honest, hiring a videographer was the last thing on our minds when it came to the wedding planning, but in the end, we decided to hire one because even though a photographer is extremely important (these will be your forever photos), the video gives a whole other feeling when you watch it. Each clip brings you back to that exact moment and you get to see it unfold before your very eyes in a form of a short video. DP Weddings did such a great job because they literally incorporated every part of the wedding into a 4 minute video. We were amazed! The song we chose for the video was Take the World by JohnnySwim, which was also our first dance and that made our video that much more special. Check it out in the link below!

2017 My Year in Review

2017 was a crazy ride, to say the least. There were many ups, downs, good and bad but I’m extremely grateful for everything I went through the past year. The year started off with a small family staycation celebrating my parent’s 30th wedding anniversary in Napa. Soon after, wedding planning was in full effect! Within the first few months of 2017, my then-fiancé and I secured a venue (which was a long process, but we knew we found the one). Then, I went on the hunt for a wedding dress, which wasn’t really a hunt because the first appointment I made was when I found THE ONE. So unexpected, but so thankful that my wedding dress search wasn’t a stressful one at all! Shortly after, my younger sis graduated and received her bachelor’s degree at SFSU. More wedding planning in between. We bought our photobooth. Then my MOH (my sis) and bridesmaids threw me the most amazing bridal shower EVER! Then, on November 3rd, I got married! Hands down, highlight of my year! My now husband and I flew to Hawaii and spent our honeymoon in paradise, flew back home after a week, then took a road trip to SoCal to finish our honeymoon. Then, the holidays came around and we celebrated our “first” Thanksgiving and Christmas together. In between the holidays, my little sis got engaged! We were there to witness the whole thing and it was an awesome day! Now, here we are, on the very last day of 2017 and as I’m reflecting on the past year, I can’t help but feel so blessed beyond measure. God is SO good.

As I go into 2018, resolutions are going to be made, but what’s most important to me is that I have my health, family, husband, close friends and faith. With God by my side, I can do all things and I’m looking forward to everything 2018 has to offer. Checking out of 2017, but I’m ready for you 2018! Wishing everyone a wonderful and prosperous New Year!

Happy Monday, ya’ll! Hope you all had a wonderful weekend, because I know I did. This past Saturday, my little sister’s boyfriend of 5 years proposed to her and my siblings, husband, close friend and I were there to witness it. It started off as a morning hike at Kirby Cove in Sausalito where we ended up on a beautiful beach with gorgeous views of the city and the Golden Gate Bridge. My sister’s boyfriend told us his plans to propose when my husband and I got back from our honeymoon in Hawaii, right before we left for SoCal. So, it’s been about a month. This past week, he told us he was planning to pop the question this weekend and wanted us to be there. We were honored!

The plan was to propose at the end of the hike so he could get views of the Golden Gate Bridge in the background, but he stalled for a bit and we knew he was nervous lol. He was pretty good at hiding it though, but since we all had an idea, we could tell he was holding back and also because he wanted to find the perfect time to do it. Finally, as we were heading back up, my brother, who had his brand new DSLR with him, made my sis the subject of his shot. My sis thought nothing of it because they’ve been going shooting together for a while now. He asked her to post facing the bridge and as she was looking away, my sister’s boyfriend got on one knee and proposed! It was such a beautiful sight and we were all so happy for them. My sister didn’t cry, surprisingly (because she cries easily, like me). She told me that it was just a feeling she had never felt before and didn’t know how to react. I knew exactly what she was talking about. That feeling of shock, excitement, pure happiness all at once. It’s a great feeling, but hard to describe in one word. We were just so glad we were able to witness such a huge event in their lives. Definitely something we will never forget.

After we headed up, my sister’s bf (now fiancé) planned to have brunch/lunch, but we had to head back home to prepare for our annual Christmas party with more of our close friends #teamido aka #teamwhatdidido lol. We had a great time, as usual. Celebrated with good company, good food and good conversation. Good times.

Wedding Photos!

Yes, you read that right. Our wedding photos are in! It was 2 days ago, on Dec 2nd that I got an e-mail from our photographer (Melissa Atle) saying that our gallery was complete. I was at work and I was so excited! I immediately told Raf and he made me wait until I got home to see them so that we could look at them together. That was one of the hardest things I ever had to do lol. I was only a couple hours in my shift and had to wait 5+ hours to get home.

After I finally got home, Raf and I sat down and looked through every single photo together. We smiled, laughed, giggled and made our own commentaries looking through the photos. It brought us back to that very day, November 3 2017, when we tied the knot. We felt like we were there again. We felt every photo and remembered each moment as it happened.

Our photographer, Melissa Atle, and her 2nd photographer, Kristen, were a dream to work with. They were ninjas throughout the day. They took shots we didn’t even know they were able to take. They captured every single emotion that day. Booking her was easily one of the best decisions we made during our wedding, and trust me, wedding planning requires a whole lot of decision making. Married couples got my back. One thing I should also mention is that we got our gallery only 4 weeks after our wedding. I mean, seriously?! I’ve heard stories where people had to wait months and got to the point of having to follow up on their wedding photos with their photographer! 4 weeks has to be some kind of record, lol. Lucky us! Lastly, we were so grateful to have received the photos a day before we celebrated our first month of marriage. The timing was absolutely perfect. It came right on time and we’re so happy we were able to look back and reflect on one month together through our wedding photos. That being said, here are a few sneak peak photos from our wedding day!

Our BACH Weekend!

Raf and I celebrated our bachelor/bachelor weekend on October 21, two weeks before the wedding. The reason I mention it now, is because I JUST edited the vlog, lol.

Our celebrations happened to be planned the same day, but that wasn’t planned to be the same day. Raf’s bachelor party was jam packed. The guys took him go karting in the morning, followed by brunch. Then they headed over to the shooting range, then the golf range, and finally, dinner at Simmer in SF. The girls and I on the other hand had a full day as well. We started off at The English Rose Tea Room in Pleasanton, followed by wine tasting at Murietta’s Well in Livermore. Then we checked into our hotel and got ready for dinner at Tri Valley Bistro in Pleasanton and had dessert at O’Honey in Dublin. Shout out our wedding party, especially our Best Man (Kuya Rodel) and Maid of Honor (Yvette) for sending us off in such a fun way!

Check out the vlog below to see how it went down!

Our BACH Weekend!

Yes, I know. Thanksgiving was so last week, and yet again, this blog post is late lol. Hey! It hasn’t been a FULL week (or month) late this time so it’s all good. Anyway, if you know me, my favorite season is fall and my favorite holiday is Thanksgiving. There’s just something about it that makes me feel at home. I love the whole, waking up early to prep the turkey and getting it in the oven. I love the ALL DAY prep for dinner. I love turning on the TV and watching the Macy’s day parade. I love blasting and singing Christmas music as the whole family is working together to prepare our Thanksgiving meal. I love watching the football games. I love the food and getting major food comas after the meal, then taking a family nap, waking up from that nap, and eating all over again. I LOVE IT ALL. This year was just as exciting, but maybe even more so because it was mine and Raf’s 1st Thanksgiving as husband and wife. I know we’ve had many, many Thanksgivings together with all the years we’ve dated, but this year was different. A good kind of different.

Raf’s mother and her boyfriend hosted Thanksgiving this year so we all headed there for lunch. We had an amazing spread, great conversation, and of course, great company. Afterwards, Raf and I headed home because we had Thanksgiving dinner at our house and I had to prep a few more things before dinner. Once again, more food, more food comas, and a great time.

There’s so much to be thankful for. This year has been such an amazing year and it’s not even over yet. Raf and I started the year off engaged and I had been working a few months at my job. The wedding planning began, my sister graduated college, and I got married…just to name a few things. My family is complete, my heart is full, and we are truly blessed. God is so good. Of course I’m thankful and grateful everyday, but Thanksgiving is special because it is a day where we can reflect on the countless blessings in our lives with our families. We have about a month left of the year and I know that it’ll be great!
